DESCRIPTION:Dozens of gingerbread houses and castles designed and decorated by local\, and not so local\, talents will fill the main performance hall. A team of judges will award prizes for Most Spectacular as well as other categories\, including Best Holiday Spirit\, Most Delicious Looking\, Best Representation of a Local Landmark\, Most Hilarious and more! On Saturday\, December 12\, the doors are open from 10am – 4pm.  Free event\, donations eagerly accepted at the door. DESCRIPTION:This evening HAS to be the most beautiful setting for a community potluck dinner. Bring a dish to share and settle in among the dazzling holiday decorations tonight – the potluck dinner is followed by the music of the season performed by pianist Kevin Kiley and his vocal elves. Doors open at 5:45\, dinner at 6:00\, and the performance aims to begin around 6:30pm and should conclude by 7:30pm.  Please bring a main\, salad or side dish – please do not bring dessert.  No tickets or reservations required\, but in addition to your potluck dish\, please bring a sturdy plate and eating utensils (we have not very sturdy paper plates and plastic forks available for those who forget to bring their own). SUMMARY:Heather Pierson's A Charlie Brown Christmas Concert!
DESCRIPTION:Singer/songwriter\, pianist\, song leader\, and performer with a passion for cultivating joy and harmony\, Heather Pierson and her trio brighten the Opera Hosue stage this holiday season. Her September 2024 album\, Back To The Light\, reached #1 on the Contemporary Folk charts and was deemed ‘flawless from beginning to end’ by Steel Notes Magazine. Heather takes as her inspiration the traditions of New Orleans\, the beauty of Appalachia\, and a healthy dose of Sunday-go-to-meeting celebration. Whether playing stride piano\, strumming her late father’s Gibson\, wielding a melodica\, or singing the blues\, the many iterations of Heather Pierson unite in a singularly warm and genuine presence\, both onstage and off.  This December the Heather Pierson Trio performs the entirety of the ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ album as recorded by the Vince Guaraldi Trio\, as well as other Guaraldi compositions and holiday favorites. The musical score for ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’\, composed by the late Vince Guaraldi and first broadcast in December of 1965\, is just as poignant and touching as the story and includes the hugely popular hit ‘Linus and Lucy’. Guaraldi’s gentle jazz riffs established musical trademarks that\, to this day\, still prompt smiles of recognition. DESCRIPTION:Tonight kick’s off the winter of 2027 Open Mic line-up at the Opera House. These popular gatherings feature musicians and poets\, storytellers and comics – in fact\, we never know who might show up but we’ve never been disappointed with the talent over the years. Come cheer on your neighbors\, shake off a little cabin fever\, or test out a song you’ve been working on – Open Mic is for everyone! Host/emcee: Eric Lowe (also the Opera House Box Office Manager). Doors open at 5:30 and the mic goes live at 6:00pm.  The Friends of the Opera House will have chili and dessert available for sale (cash only)\, and the Opera House bar will have cold drinks (cash only). Sorry\, bringing your own food or beverages is not permitted. Talent sign-ups begin at 5:30pm. SUMMARY:UMaine Renaissance Tour
DESCRIPTION:Renaissance is the University of Maine’s premier all-treble a cappella group\, stemming from the university’s premier auditioned choir\, the University Singers. Renaissance is made up of 12 college women offering a diverse repertoire that includes chart-topping songs from the 1960’s-2020’s\, modern pop and classical arrangements. They have something to offer for audience members of all ages. No tickets required tonight\, but audience members who are able are asked to make a donation at the door.  Of note for Boothbay region music fans\, BRHS graduate Suzie Edwards is a member of Renaissance – come out tonight and cheer her on! Doors for seating open at 6:30 and the concert begins at 7:00pm on the main performance stage. Refreshments are available; please do not bring outside food or beverages into the Opera House tonight.
