Fresh Air! Equals No Concerts for Awhile

Our “open air under a roof” concerts, with limited-sized audiences, came to a close in December as the chill of a Maine winter set in. When we are able to safely start up our small concerts again in the spring, once the temperatures consistently rise above freezing, we will – but we can only do it if Maine’s Covid situation tames down so please please wear a mask whenever you are out, and keep your distance and stay in your bubble! It’s hard, but it’s the only way we are going to be able to get back to the business of live music and community gatherings. We do have concerts listed on our schedule, but are delaying ticket sales until we have a better idea of social gathering guidelines/audience size limits going into the spring/summer.  Please call 207-633-5159 if you have specific questions.

The Stage is Dark – For Now

With the hope of stemming the community spread of the Covid-19 virus, the Opera House has cancelled performances through late May. Currently none of the impacted shows have rescheduled dates, and as such, all tickets for cancelled shows will be refunded or credited towards a future performance if requested. If you opt not to request a refund, the Opera House will gratefully redirect your support to help keep the House running during these uncertain times.

1)If you purchased your tickets to a cancelled show through our online ticket vendor (instantseats), they have been refunded to your credit card directly.

2)If you purchased tickets by phone through our box office and the tickets are on hold/will call in the box office, your credit card has been refunded automatically.

3) If you have physical tickets in your possession that you purchased at the box office, please mail them to the Opera House, PO Box 800, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 with a notation on who should receive the refund check and to what address it should be mailed.

We will update information as needed. And soon we hope this space can once again be used to talk about live performances, magic moments, and the history of this old house as we celebrate Maine’s Bicentennial. We miss you all. Stay well.

2018 Memberships Available!

Every night, when the doors swing open and the audience pours in, we are grateful for everyone who has come out to support the evening’s event, but we are especially grateful for our members. Their support early in the spring helps to make the season possible. Membership dues underwrite expenses ranging from artist fees to hospitality, staffing to cleaning, maintenance to advertising and so much more. Without the generosity of our members, our season would look quite different. Thank you in advance to all who are considering becoming a 2018 member of the Opera House.

As a small way of saying thank you to our members we extend early admission for best seat selection, reserved seating benefits, complimentary tickets and more depending upon the level of membership. Our membership appeal will be mailed in early March. If you do not receive our 2018 membership mailing and want to know more, please contact Kim in our Box Office. The box office is open Tuesday-Friday from 9 am – 3 pm and Kim can be reached at 207-633-5159.

2018 Season Begins with Open Mic, New Staff

Happy New Year! The very first event of the 2018 calendar year will be Open Mic, upstairs in the bar on Friday, January 19. Additional Open mics are scheduled for Friday, February 9 and Friday, March 9, so now is the time to put away your holiday decorations and pull out that tin whistle (?) and start preparing to take to the stage! Doors for Open Mics are at 6:30, with talent beginning at 7:00 pm. Music, poetry, dance in a very small space – what is it that you would like to share? We ask that if you are reading, please be sure that it is your own material and not that of other other authors.

In 2018 we welcome Kim Keller as our new box office manager. For many years Millie Santiago has cheerfully greeted the masses and she is handing her smile over to Kim. Please welcome Kim to the Opera House cast – stop in and say hello or call and buy a ticket to an upcoming show and know that Kim will be there to greet you. She will also be overseeing 2018 membership efforts. There is no reason to wait until the spring membership renewal mailing – if you want to renew today just let Kim know! The Box Office phone is 207-633-5159.

Our first mainstage show of the new year features the Boneheads and the Holy Mackerels, on Saturday, January 27 at 7 PM. Tickets on sale now.
