If interested in entering this year’s Gingerbread Spectacular, please call 207-633-6855 for details. Prizes will be awarded for not only the most spectacular, but also for best holiday spirit, most hilarious, best representation of a local landmark and more. Community Preview Party on Friday, December 15 from 5:30-8pm featuring the music of the Novel Jazz Quartet, the bar will be open, dancing might even happen. Regular hours are Saturday & Sunday, December 16 & 17 from 11AM – 4PM daily. Free. Donations welcome. Don’t miss this delicious exhibit and the beautifully decorated Opera House this season.

 

The Opera House was built in the 19th century, and over the decades it has played host to traveling performers, silent movies, basketball games, concerts of all sorts, town meetings and more.  This year we are celebrating 20 years since the grand old building reawakened after many neglected years. In 2003 Jackson Browne performed the first concert in the re-opened, somewhat renovated Opera House. His concert here made us believe we could bring the old place back to life. And we have. In 2023 we are celebrating 20 years of music and magic in the revitalized non-profit Opera House. Please join us.

The Opera House calendar is never static.  While we announce each season with mailings and print up guides, we are constantly adding events. Revisit the website periodically, and we bet you’ll find a surprise or two!

Even if you are not familiar with an act, take a chance. If they are playing the Opera House they are bound to be memorable. Remember, advance discounted tickets are only available directly from the Opera House box office at 207-633-5159. Regular tickets are always available online, and at the door if available – but they will cost you a little more. Buy early and get the discount!

A holiday tradition!  Make sure to carve out a bit of time during the holiday season to take a look at the 2022 gingerbread creations. They are all a secret until they are delivered by their bakers and creators – but we bet there will be confectionery cabins and castles, bungalows, fairy houses, starships, farms, cathedrals and more. All skill levels, all ages welcome to create a gingerbread structure this year and enter it into the Spectacular. Prizes awarded for not only the Most Spectacular, but also for Best Holiday Spirit, Most Hilarious, Best Landscaping, Best Representation of a Local landmark, Best Youth Design, Most Delicious Looking and more! Open Saturday & Sunday, December 17-18. Preview Celebration Friday evening, December 16.  No admission fee. Donations Welcome.
